REMINDER:The Consumer Education Proficiency test will be TODAY February 3rd during 8th hour in faculty cafeteria. A photo ID will be required to take the test and you may bring your calculator. The test may take longer than one class period, so please make alternate arrangements for after school transportation. You may sign up for the test in the Guidance Office through 4th period today. If you took the Consumer Ed test in October and did not pass, you are not eligible to take the Consumer Ed test until Fall 2010.
The representative from the National Guard will not be at BHS during lunch hours on February 3rd. Please watch the announcements for the rescheduled date.

Latino students: The United States Hispanic Leadership Institute is hosting its annual Latino College Fair on Wednesday, February 17th in Chicago. ATTENTION JUNIORS: Junior Advisory is Today, February 3rd, periods 1-8 in the GRC. You will be coming to this Advisory from your Social Studies class. If you do not have a Social Studies class, please attend one session during your open or lunch. Topics include pre-registration for senior year, ACT/SAT testing, and other topics. You will also receive your 2010-11 Program of Studies.
Friday, February 5th is Bob "Chickenman" Lange Bobble-Head Day at the boys' and girls' varsity basketball games. Each BHS student presenting their student ID will receive a ticket that will be entered into random drawings throughout the evening for a chance to win one of 50 bobble-heads that will be given away. The first drawing will take place near the start of the girls' game which begins at 6:30 p.m. DON'T MISS OUT ON WHAT MAY BE THE SOCIAL EVENT OF 2010!
Attention Seniors: The 2010 Local Scholarship Packet is available in the GRC. These scholarships are available to graduating seniors. You can apply to all scholarships for which you qualify but you may only receive one. If you are selected for more than one scholarship you will be awarded the scholarship which gives you the highest amount. The applications are due on March 1, 2010. No exceptions. See Mrs. Crowther in the GRC with questions.
Students can pick up a copy of their vaccination record of the H1N1 vaccine from the Cook County Health Department in the Nurse's office this week.

The annual District 220 Speech Tournament needs judges and runners on Sat., Feb. 27th from 8:30am - 12 noon at BMS Station Campus. Judges must be seniors, but anyone can help out as a runner. Sign up with Mrs. Bauer in the GRC.
Assistant teachers are needed for mini-class programs at both Lines and Rose Schools. Mini-classes are non-academic and taught by volunteers, once a week from 3:30-4:50 for four weeks starting the week of Feb. 8th. You must be available on the same day for four weeks. Examples of classes include yoga, cooking, crafts, sports and more. See Mrs. Bauer in the GRC for more information.
"Have A Heart" and help Cuba Township with its annual food drive on Sat., Feb. 13th at the Public Safety Building, from 9-12 or 11-1. Sign up with Mrs. Bauer in the GRC.
Volunteer at the BHS pool for the Illinois Swimming Regional Championships, Fri.-Sun., Feb. 26th-28th. Various shifts and jobs are available. See Mrs. Bauer in the GRC.
Grove Avenue School needs volunteer tutors (sophomores thru seniors) to work one-on-one with a child, once a week after school for an hour, on a mutually agreeable day of the week. The commitment is from now through May. If you can help, see Mrs. Bauer in the GRC.
Bilingual tutors for ELL students are needed once a week at Lines, North Barrington and Sunny Hill Schools, from 3:45-4:45. Please see Mrs. Bauer if you think you can help. Tutors must be sophomores or older.
Mentor a middle school student in Barrington Youth & Family Service's "Fantastic Ride" program. The time commitment is once a week, with an additional once a month in service training, and optional field trips. See Mrs. Bauer in the GRC for an application.
