We're looking for a musical T-shirt design for Beauty and the Beast. If you are interested the Fine Arts Dept. will be accepting designs through Wednesday, Jan. 27th. Please bring your entry to the BHS art gallery. Be sure it is clearly labeled with your name. As we have done in years past, the winning designer will receive a free t- shirt and 4 tickets to the performance of their choice.
Juniors and Seniors who will be leaving before 8th hour, 2nd semester, need to come and pick up a "permit to leave card" from the deans office. This card needs to be signed by a parent and returned to the Deans office during finals week for a new sticker on your ID card. Thank you from the deans’ office.
Volunteers are needed this coming Monday for the "Hope 4 Bridget" Read-A-Thon for K-5th grade children at Lake Barrington Field House. Shifts are 9-11:30am or 11:15-1:30pm. Bridget is the 5-year old child of a beloved District 220 reading resource teacher, and was recently diagnosed with Batten Disease. We need high school students to read with small groups of children and talk to them about your favorite books, and also to help with check-in, serving food, and logistics. Special requests are: for any sports team members, poms and cheerleaders to come dressed in your uniforms, for drama students to dress up in provided character costumes, and for art students to make posters ahead of time. Please see Mrs. Bauer if you can help on this special day.
Sophomores through seniors: volunteer tutors are needed for 2nd semester and Grove Ave. and Lines Schools. The time commitment is once a week after school for an hour, from 3:45-4:45 (3:15-4:15 on Wed.) on a mutually agreeable day of the week. Please see Mrs. Bauer if you are interested.
Middle school mentors are needed for the Fantastic Ride 2nd semester program. Barrington Youth & Family Services provides training for this once a week program in which you'll be paired with a middle school students for both one-on-one & group activities, Mondays from 3-4pm, plus a once a month in-service training from 4-5pm, and optional field trips. See Mrs. Bauer for an application.
Volunteer at the Countryside School Family Dance on Fri., Feb. 5th from 4-10pm. Help with set-up, running games, taking photos, serving snacks and clean-up. Sign up with Mrs. Bauer in the GRC.
South Barrington Park District needs volunteers for its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance on Fri. Feb. 5th from 7-9pm at Barbara Rose School. Please see Mrs. Bauer if you can help.
Congratulations to Ingrid Yin and Evan Blum for winning awards at the Carl Sandburg Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament last weekend. Ingrid won 4th place speaker and 3rd place overall in the Novice division; Evan won 5th place speaker in the JV division.
